Petaluma and Surrounds

Getting to North Bay Python

North Bay Python 2024 is being held at Reis River Ranch, just south of Petaluma’s city limits. It’s easily accessible by car, and reasonably accessible by bike.

Driving

Reis River Ranch is just off Highway 101 south of Petaluma, approximately 35 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. There is abundant parking on-site.

Take exit 472A (Petaluma Blvd South), and follow the signs to Reis River Ranch. There will be North Bay Python signage at the entrance to the ranch.

Cycling

You can bike from Downtown Petaluma: Petaluma Blvd South has bike lanes from downtown, right to the ranch. It’s about 4 miles total, including about 1 mile on a frontage road with minimal vehicle traffic.

Note there is a sign on the Petaluma Blvd South Frontage road that indicates a road closure at San Antonio Creek. This does not impact the bike lanes to Reis River Ranch, which remains accessible by bike.

Currently, the bike path between Novato and San Antonio Creek is close due to construction on Highway 101. If you were planning to cycle from Marin, recommend taking your bike from Marin on Golden Gate Transit to South Petaluma. There’s also a bike path from Novato-San Marin SMART station to the Sonoma-Marin County Line, from there you can follow the Petaluma Blvd South bike lanes to the ranch.

Public Transit

Reis River Ranch does not have direct public transit connections, but is within a few miles of both Golden Gate Transit bus stops and a SMART train station, and rideshares and taxis are easily available to handle the last miles.

Petaluma is served by Golden Gate Transit (buses from San Francisco), the SMART rail line (Sonoma & Marin Counties with connections to the Golden Gate Transit Larkspur Ferry), and Sonoma County Transit.

We may be able to help try and organize carpools, or shared rides from Downtown Petaluma. Please let us know if you need help with that.

Flying In

Petaluma’s closest passenger airport is Sonoma County Airport (STS), which has nonstop flights to several west coast cities through Alaska Airlines, as well as Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Phoenix. From there, it’s 35 minutes by car to Petaluma, or you can take various public transit options or the Sonoma County Airport Express bus.

Other nearby airports include San Francisco (SFO), and Oakland (OAK), both are 1 hour away from Petaluma. You can get a transfer to Petaluma via the Sonoma County Airport Express bus.

San Jose (SJC) and Sacramento International (SMF) are 90 minutes drive away, with extremely indirect public transit options. We do not recommend these airports unless you have an extremely good reason.

Kayak or Other Small Watercraft

Reis River Ranch abuts the Petaluma River. Kayak rentals are available from Downtown Petaluma. Please contact us if you wish to travel to the venue by watercraft.
